Pensacola State College Volleyball celebrated a memorable Family Weekend, honoring their ten sophomores and recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Amid the festivities, the Pirates delivered a dominant performance on the court, securing three consecutive conference sweeps.
Pensacola State 3, St. Petersburg 0
(25-20, 25-12, 25-21)
Friday's matchup against the St. Petersburg Titans was a gritty battle at the net. The Pirates maintained offensive pressure throughout, hitting an impressive .333 team average. Leading the attack were right-side hitter Laila Greene and outside hitter Catie Woolf, each recording 10 kills. Middle blocker Reece Varden added nine kills with a .400 hitting percentage.
Setter Lauren Schuessler orchestrated the offense with 33 assists, nine digs, and two kills. On defense, libero Addison Danforth led with 19 digs, while Maddie Goodwin contributed a career-high 17 digs. Greene also anchored the net defense with five block assists and one solo block.

Saturday's match against the SCF Manatees marked Sophomore Day, celebrating ten standout players: Hannah Bradley, Reece Varden, Marisa Beaubien, Catie Woolf, Laila Greene, Maddie Goodwin, Olivia McDaniel, Lauren Schuessler, Danielle Lee, and Sofia Ortiz.
PSC dominated the match in straight sets. Woolf led the offense with 13 kills, one solo block, and nine digs. Greene added eight kills, while Goodwin and Lee chipped in five each. Freshman Taegan Scott made a late appearance, energizing the team with four kills.
Danforth anchored the defense again with 19 digs. Schuessler earned her ninth double-double of the season with 23 assists and 12 digs, while Kendall Judge contributed 11 assists and two aces. Danforth also added seven assists. The Pirates were aggressive from the service line, tallying 16 aces—six from Danforth and four from Woolf.

Sunday's final match against the Pasco-Hernando Bobcats was PSC's annual "Pirates in Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness game. The team was inspired by a heartfelt testimony from Melissa Wolter, head coach at the University of West Florida and breast cancer survivor.
Fueled by purpose, the Pirates delivered a powerful performance, hitting a team average of .365 with 44 total kills. Greene led with 13 kills, followed closely by Woolf with 12. Schuessler was outstanding, recording 40 assists, 13 digs, and two block assists. McDaniel added 10 digs and two aces, while Beaubien protected the net with four block assists and one solo block. Varden hit .500 with eight kills, and Goodwin contributed six kills at a .375 clip.
Looking Ahead
PSC Volleyball carries momentum into another tri-match road weekend, facing South Florida State, Indian River, and Palm Beach from Thursday to Saturday.

The Pirates return to Hartsell Arena on Tuesday, October 14, for a rematch against rival Gulf Coast State.
