Pirates Open Conference Play with Three Wins
The Pirates entered Sun-Lakes Conference play over the weekend. The team started with a road trip south to face three opponents; St. Petersburg College, State College of Florida and Pasco-Hernando.

The Pirates entered Sun-Lakes Conference play over the weekend. The team started with a road trip south to face three opponents; St. Petersburg College, State College of Florida and Pasco-Hernando.
Pensacola State 3, St. Petersburg College 0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-14)
PSC started their weekend tour in St. Petersburg, FL to face the SPC Titans on Thursday, September 4. Catie Woolf carried the torch for the Pirates, with another double-double yet again; 11 kills and 11 digs. Danielle Lee followed up with nine kills, and Laila Greene brought in seven kills of her own. Lauren Schuessler and Kendall Judge set the offense for the Pirates. Schuessler tallied 17 assists and nine digs; Judge added 12 more along with 12 digs. Libero Addison Danforth and defensive specialist Olivia McDaniel fought off the Titans' offense with 13 digs each.
Pensacola State 3, State College of Florida 0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-23)
The following day, the Pirates made their way to Bradenton, FL for their second matchup against the Manatees. Pensacola's offense stayed hot the entire match, hitting a .345 as a team. Leading that average was Woolf with 14 kills hitting a .500 along with 10 digs. Lee trailed right behind with 10 kills. In the middle, Marisa Beaubien brought in six kills and Reece Varden notched five kills. Schuessler earned another double-double with 18 assists and 15 digs. Judge contributed nine assists and 10 digs.
Pensacola State 3, Pasco-Hernando 0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-19)
Pensacola closed out their weekend with another 3-0 sweep against the Bobcats. Pasco-Hernando put up a good fight against the Pirates' offense with 46 digs and five blocks, but could not sustain to win the match. Pensacola's offense was led by setter Kendall Judge who notched a career double-double of 14 assists and 10 digs. Schuessler earned another double-double as well, bringing in 12 assists and 14 digs against the Bobcats. Leading in kills was middle hitter Reece Varden with eight, Woolf matching with eight kills of her own and Lee tallying seven not far behind. Commanding the back court for the Pirates was libero Addison Danforth with 14 digs and five assists. Woolf added 13 more digs to contribute to the team's total of 71 digs in a three-set match.
The Pirates return to their home court this weekend for three more conference match ups. PSC will open up the weekend with a match against South Florida State on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Followed by a match on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. versus Palm Beach State, and their annual Berry Strong Match. Finally, Pensacola will take on Indian River in a 11:00 a.m. match on Sunday to finish off their weekend of competition.
