September 5 – Pirates 0 #2 Johnson County Community College 3
The Pirates entered their matchup against second-ranked Johnson County with intensity and discipline. Their defensive organization frustrated the opposition for much of the first half, limiting attacking chances and maintaining composure. Although Johnson County eventually broke through with a goal inside the box, the Pirates responded with unity and smart ball movement.
At halftime, the team reflected on their strong start and identified areas for improvement. In the second half, they continued to battle, but a few costly mistakes allowed Johnson County to add two more goals. Despite the 3–0 final score, the Pirates demonstrated determination and growth against elite competition.
September 8 – Pirates 2 #5 Jones College 1
Just days later, the Pirates traveled to face fifth-ranked Jones College and embraced the challenge with confidence. The first half was a defensive showcase, ending in a 0–0 draw — a first for the Pirates this season. Their discipline and effort laid the foundation for a breakthrough.
Early in the second half, Emily Leonavicius delivered a clinical free kick to give the Pirates a 1–0 lead. The match intensified, and Jones equalized with five minutes remaining. Undeterred, the Pirates pressed forward, and with just one minute left, Mia Johnson netted the game-winner. Holding firm in the final seconds, the Pirates secured a thrilling 2–1 victory.
These two matches showcased the Pirates' ability to compete with top-tier programs. From a hard-fought loss to a dramatic win, the team displayed composure under pressure, tactical discipline, and a relentless spirit. As the season progresses, these experiences will serve as building blocks for continued success. Pensacola will host Region foe Pasco-Hernando on Friday, September 12 at Ashton Brosnaham Park at 6:00pm.
