Caroline Powell

Bio

Caroline Powell enters her first season as Head Softball Coach at Pensacola State College after serving as an assistant coach for the Pirates for the past 10 seasons. She also served as the athletic department's Sports Information Director, supporting and promoting Pensacola State's athletic programs while playing an integral role in the continued success of the softball program.

Since joining the Pensacola State staff in September 2016, Powell has been heavily involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development, game preparation, practice planning, scouting, and program administration. During her tenure, Pensacola State student-athletes have earned 50 All-Panhandle Conference selections, 10 FCSAA All-State honors, two NJCAA All-America selections, and produced a two-time FCSAA State Player of the Year.

Prior to Pensacola State, Powell served as an assistant coach at Highland Community College in Kansas. There, she worked with offensive and defensive instruction, practice planning, and mental skills training. The Scotties captured the Region VI Championship and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament, while producing seven All-Region selections and the Region Player of the Year.

Powell also served as an assistant coach at Chattanooga State Community College, helping guide the Tigers to a third-place finish at the 2015 NJCAA National Tournament. During her tenure, Chattanooga State produced three NJCAA All-Tournament Team selections and two NJCAA First Team All-Americans.

Before returning to the United States, Powell spent five seasons as head coach of Olympia Haarlem in the Netherlands' highest professional softball league. Taking over shortly after the club earned promotion to the top division, she helped establish Olympia as one of the country's premier programs. Under her leadership, the team qualified for the playoffs three times, and seven players were selected to the Dutch National Team. In 2014, Powell also directed social media operations for the ISF Women's World Championship hosted by Olympia Haarlem.

From 2007-09, Powell worked with the University of Tennessee softball program as a graduate assistant manager while earning a master's degree in Sport Studies with a concentration in Sport Psychology.

A former collegiate student-athlete, Powell began her playing career at Palm Beach Community College before transferring to Samford University, where she competed during her final two seasons and later served as a student assistant coach. She earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Samford and a master's degree from the University of Tennessee.

A native of Semora, North Carolina, Powell graduated from Person High School, where she lettered in volleyball, basketball, and softball.
