Pensacola State College's softball program found itself well represented when postseason honors were announced, with six Pirates earning spots on the highly competitive All-Panhandle Conference team.
In a conference widely regarded as one of the toughest in junior college softball, the recognition speaks not only to individual excellence but also to the resilience and growth of a Pensacola State squad that continued to compete against some of the nation's top programs.
Leading the way for the Pirates were two First Team selections in catcher Brea Holley and shortstop Kate Luyten, both of whom served as cornerstones of the team's success throughout the season.
Holley was a steady presence behind the plate and contributed offensively in key moments throughout the season. She batted .331 with eight home runs and 34 RBI.
Luyten showcased her dynamic play at shortstop while also setting the tone offensively as the leadoff batter. She led the team with a .396 batting average on the season, including batting .478 in conference play.
Making the second team, Kayleigh Cuccia helped anchor the defense at second base. Her offense picked up in conference play and she batted .310.
Karlee McLean, named as an at-large selection, made an impact in multiple roles including the designated player spot. She settled in halfway through the year and batted .326 in conference play.
In the circle, the pitching duo of Chevelle Kingsley and Kika Bonora also earned Second Team recognition. Both pitchers logged important innings against powerful conference lineups. Kingsley struck out a team high 90 batters on the season. Bonora stepped up in conference play as her innings increased and she picked up a couple of key wins.
