The Pirates wrapped up their softball season in impressive fashion, defeating Tallahassee 9–2 on Sophomore Day in a game highlighted by timely hitting and dominant pitching.
PSC wasted no time getting on the board, striking first in the opening inning. Morgan Maples delivered a sacrifice fly to bring in the game's first run and set the tone early.
Momentum continued to build in the third inning when the Pirates capitalized on disciplined at-bats and clutch hitting. Drawing multiple walks to keep the inning alive, Megan McKeown came through with an RBI single, helping the Pirates plate three runs and extend their lead.
Holding a 6–2 advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Pirates put the game out of reach with three insurance runs. The highlight of the inning came off the bat of Megan Lamorte, who launched a home run to give the Pirates a commanding lead and energize the home crowd.
Offensively, several Pirates turned in standout performances at the plate. Kate Luyten and Kayleigh Cuccia each went 2-for-3, consistently putting pressure on the defense. McKeown also had a strong day, tallying two hits and contributing key RBIs.
In the circle, Chevelle Kingsley delivered a dominant outing. She struck out 10 batters while allowing just five hits, keeping the Tallahassee offense in check and securing the win for the Pirates.
Pensacola did travel to Gulf Coast on Friday for the official last game. They were leading 3-0 in the second inning when Mother Nature intervened and the game was canceled.
