Pensacola State opened Panhandle Conference play last Wednesday at home against Chipola, but the Pirates were unable to generate enough offense to keep pace with the Indians.

Pensacola State opened Panhandle Conference play last Wednesday at home against Chipola, but the Pirates were unable to generate enough offense to keep pace with the Indians. Chipola capitalized on timely hitting in the opener, pulling away for a 10–2 victory. Megan LaMorte led PSC offensively, going 2-for-2 with a double and a walk, while Morgan Maples added a 2-for-3 performance. Despite solid individual efforts, the Pirates struggled to string together hits in key moments.
The second game of the doubleheader proved more competitive, but Chipola once again came out on top with a 6–1 win. Kate Luyten paced the Pirates' lineup, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate. Kayleigh Cuccia accounted for PSC's lone run, recording a double and driving in the Pirates' only RBI of the game.
Pensacola State returned to action Saturday on the road at Northwest Florida, where the Pirates dropped two run-rule decisions. In game one, PSC fell 10–1 despite another strong showing from Luyten, who was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a solo home run and the team's lone RBI. Cuccia and LaMorte were the only other Pirates to record hits in the contest.
The second game ended in a 9–1 loss, with Luyten and Cuccia once again leading the offense. Both finished 2-for-3, with Cuccia adding a double. The Pirates will look to build on their individual performances as they continue conference play in the weeks ahead.
