Offense Stalls at Pearl River
PSC opened the week on the road in Pearl River, where their offense never fully made the trip. The Pirates were shut out in both games, falling 8–0 in each contest as they struggled to generate momentum at the plate. Despite moments of solid defense and competitive innings, PSC couldn't overcome Pearl River's consistent pressure and timely hitting.
Pirates Bounce Back With Walk-Off Thriller
Returning home Wednesday to face Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Pirates quickly showed they had moved on from Tuesday's struggles.
PSC struck first in Game 1 when Megan LaMorte ripped an RBI double in the second inning. That early spark ignited the offense, and the Pirates added runs in each of the next three innings, capitalizing on both clutch hitting and Bulldog miscues.
Mississippi Gulf Coast refused to back down, plating three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to erase PSC's lead and tie the game. With tension high in the bottom of the seventh, Alexis Zerquera—already having thrown 5.1 strong innings as the starting pitcher—stepped to the plate and launched a walk‑off home run to centerfield, sealing the Pirates' dramatic win.
Offensively, Zerquera and Brea Holley each recorded two hits, helping fuel the early scoring.
Relievers Maurade Miller and Kika Bonora held the Bulldogs in check late, with Bonora earning the win.
The Pirates couldn't replicate their spark in the second game. PSC managed just two hits—a triple from Kayleigh Cuccia and a single from Anna Reily—as their bats once again went quiet. Mississippi Gulf Coast took advantage and secured a 6–0 victory to split the day's matchups.
