The Pensacola State Pirates came up short in Saturday's doubleheader against Snead State, falling 3–2 in the opener and 10–0 in five innings in the second game.
Pensacola showed promise early in the opening game, striking quickly in the first inning when Brea Holley launched a two‑run home run to give the Pirates a 2–0 lead. However, that would be the only offense the Pirates could generate, as the bats fell silent the rest of the way.
Despite the lack of run support, Chevelle Kingsley delivered a solid performance in the circle. The right-hander allowed only one earned run and kept the Pirates in the game throughout, tallying seven strikeouts in a strong outing. At the plate, Kayleigh Cuccia was a bright spot, reaching base in all three of her appearances—each time via walk.
In Game 2, the Pirates produced more baserunners but struggled to piece together timely hits. Snead State capitalized on their opportunities, steadily pulling away until the game ended in five innings, 10–0. Cuccia continued her productive day, going 2-for-2 with a double and a walk, accounting for nearly all of Pensacola's offensive highlights in the nightcap.
Pensacola will look to regroup and reignite its offense as they travel to Pearl River on Tuesday and then host Mississippi Gulf Coast at home on Wednesday.
