Pensacola State suffered a tough loss at home to Northwest Florida, falling 75-46.
From the opening tip, Northwest Florida controlled the game, jumping out to a 12-2 run and never letting the Pirates settle in. The Raiders were dominant on both ends in the first half, shooting 52% from the field and knocking down all three of their three-point attempts to take a 35-18 lead into halftime. They also completely owned the glass early, outrebounding Pensacola 27-10 in the first 20 minutes.
The second half brought more of the same, as Northwest continued to overwhelm the Pirates with their size and physicality. Northwest Florida finished the night with a commanding 49-24 rebounding advantage and shot 48% for the game, while Pensacola struggled to find any rhythm offensively, shooting just 29%.
The Pirates were without Sean Owens, and his absence was clearly felt as the Pirates were outmatched in every aspect of the game.
Pensacola State will try to bounce back on the road Saturday at Gulf Coast, with tip-off set for 4:00 PM CT.
