Pensacola State put on an offensive clinic at home, defeating Coastal Alabama 106–83 to complete a season sweep and improve to 9–2 on the year. Both teams came out firing in the first half, with Coastal Alabama jumping out to a brief five-point lead while shooting 43% from three. The Pirates weathered the early surge and responded with a decisive run late in the half to take a 51–44 lead into the break.
The second half belonged entirely to Pensacola State. The Pirates came out aggressive on both ends of the floor, pushing the tempo and overwhelming Coastal Alabama with consistent stops and fast-paced offense. The surge led to a lead that ballooned to as much as 30 points as Pensacola's depth and energy took over.
The night was headlined by a dominant performance from Deven Bates, who earned Player of the Game honors after posting 28 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals while shooting an efficient 67% from the field. Ethan McDonald matched him with 28 points of his own, connecting on 6-of-9 from three-point range and also finishing at 67% shooting on the night.
Off the bench, Josh Middlebrooks once again provided instant impact, scoring 16 points—14 of which came in the first half—while also tying for the team lead with 5 assists. He added two three-pointers and shot 64% from the floor, continuing to be a reliable spark for the Pirates.
With the win, Pensacola State improves to 9–2 on the season and will be back in action Saturday against Florida Southwestern at 2 p.m. ET in the Florida College Men's Basketball Shootout at Tallahassee State College.
