Pensacola State ran into one of the toughest challenges in the country, falling 81–50 to defending national champion Trinity Valley. From the opening possessions, Trinity's overwhelming size and physicality created matchup problems that the Pirates struggled to counter.
Trinity Valley executed at an elite level offensively, shooting 55% from the field and a scorching 67% from three in the first half. Their efficiency helped them build a 15-point halftime lead, and the momentum carried into the second half. The Cardinals continued to control the interior, dictate the pace, and outscored Pensacola State 39–23 over the final 20 minutes.
Despite the tough matchup, the Pirates competed and found bright spots in their backcourt. Sean Owens recorded a game-high 13 points, knocking down shots and providing steady perimeter scoring. Joshua Middlebrooks added 11 points, giving Pensacola an additional offensive spark.
Pensacola State will look to regroup quickly as they return to action tomorrow against Wallace State, aiming to get back on track and close out the Thanksgiving Classic strong.
