Jeff Burkhamer is a seasoned collegiate basketball coach with over 27 years of head coaching experience, known for transforming programs and achieving historic milestones across multiple institutions. Most recently, he served as the head coach at the University of West Florida (UWF), where he led the Argonauts to unprecedented success, including their first-ever Gulf South Conference Championship, first NCAA Tournament appearance, and the best single-season record in school history (28–4). Under his leadership, UWF earned its first top-10 national ranking, and Burkhamer was named GSC Coach of the Year and National NCAA Division II Coach of the Week.
Prior to UWF, Burkhamer coached at Lander University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, Santa Fe College, and North Greenville College, consistently elevating each program. At Armstrong, he led the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances, the most in school history, and was honored as Georgia’s College Coach of the Year by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club. At Santa Fe, he posted a .758 winning percentage, the best in school history, and earned multiple Coach of the Year honors. His tenure at North Greenville was equally impressive, with back-to-back 29-win seasons, two Region X championships, and two NJCAA National Tournament appearances.
Burkhamer’s overall head coaching record stands at 493–297 (.624), including 338 NCAA Division II wins and 155 NJCAA wins, with an average of 18.3 wins per season. He has coached 53 All-Conference players, 5 Conference Players of the Year, 3 All-Americans, and numerous athletes who went on to play professionally in the NBA, CBA, and overseas.
Before his head coaching career, Burkhamer held assistant coaching roles at Marshall University, Morehead State, Charleston Southern, Winthrop, and with the Grand Rapids Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association.
