Pensacola State battled through a tough two‑game series against Chipola last week, coming up just short in a dramatic road contest on Tuesday before falling again Thursday at home.
The series opener was played Tuesday at Chipola and proved to be a heartbreaking loss for the Pirates, who fell 11–10 despite an incredible comeback effort. Pensacola State trailed 9–0 heading into the sixth inning before mounting a furious rally, plating 10 runs over the final four frames to take a 10–9 lead in the top of the ninth inning. Unfortunately, the Indians answered in the bottom of the frame, scoring the walk‑off run to hand PSC the narrow defeat.
The Pirate offense erupted for 14 hits in the game, led by a monster performance from Caden Hartman, who launched two home runs and drove in five runs. Kaden Wilks was perfect at the plate, going 4‑for‑4, while Lincoln Pack finished 2‑for‑5. Anthony Diaz added key production as well, going 2‑for‑6 with three RBIs during the comeback push.
The teams met again Thursday at Pensacola State for game two of the series, where the Pirates dropped a 5–1 decision despite solid pitching performances. Carson Small led PSC on the mound, tossing one scoreless inning of relief while striking out three. Rilee Lowery was strong out of the bullpen as well, throwing three innings of no‑run baseball to keep the Pirates within reach.
Offensively, Hartman once again provided the highlight, accounting for Pensacola State's only run with a solo home run in the second inning. He also added a double to finish with a multi‑extra‑base hit day.
