Pensacola State faced a challenging series against Northwest Florida last week, dropping both games despite flashes of offensive production.
In Game 1, the Pirates fell 19–5 as Northwest Florida pulled away early. Pensacola managed five runs in the loss, highlighted by strong performances from Caden Hartman and Grant Walters. Hartman went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Walters drove in three runs, finishing 1-for-3 with a triple. Despite those efforts, the Pirates were unable to slow Northwest Florida's offense, which capitalized throughout the game.
Game 2 proved to be a much tighter contest, with Pensacola narrowly falling 9–8 in a back-and-forth battle. The Pirates' offense came alive, collecting 15 hits and scoring eight runs. Anthony Diaz led the charge, going 3-for-6 with three RBIs. Ethan Murray added a 2-for-4 performance, while Aaron Rowell went 2-for-3. Hartman continued his strong series with a three-run home run that kept Pensacola within striking distance.
Trailing by two runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Pirates mounted a final rally. Mercer Hudson delivered a clutch RBI double to bring the Pirates within one, but Pensacola was unable to push across the tying run, ending the game just short of a comeback.
