Five Lady Pirates Named All-Conference

Five Lady Pirates Named All-Conference

Pensacola State had five women's basketball players named to the Panhandle All-Conference team. 

Of the five selections, two were named First-team All-Panhandle - Nia Johnson and Naterria Luster.

Johnson, a sophomore from Sandersville, Ga., averaged 12.4 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. 

Luster, a sophomore out of Richmond, Va., was the overall leading scorer for the Lady Pirates this season as she averaged 12.9 points per game while shooting a solid 50% from the field. Statistically she was the second best rebounder on the team as she averaged 6.1 boards a game. 

The remaining three Lady Pirates - Ta'Sheanne Armstrong, Ahyiona Vason and Mylashia Yancey - earned second-team All-Panhandle honors. 

Armstrong, a sophomore from El Dorado, Ar., averaged 11.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. She shot a team best 40% from 3-point range. 

Despite missing seven games due to injury, sophomore guard Vason, averaged 8 points a game while dishing out a team high 3 assists per game. Next season the stealthy guard will continue her playing career at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. 

Yancey, a sophomore who hails from Ashburn, Ga., rounds out the Lady Pirate honorees. She averaged 11.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and was the top shooter for PSC from the free throw line by making 88.7%.
