Pete Pena begins his eigth season as the Pirates Head Baskeball Coach. The Pirates are coming off a season that saw three more players sign at the Division 1 level. Coach Pena has sent a total of 26 players to the Division 1 level in his 7 years as Head Coach of the Pirates. The graduation rate for student athletes who spent two seasons playing for Coach Pena is at PSC is 96%. Pensacola State has averaged 18 wins per year during his tenure with 2 FJCAA State Tournament appearances and a Panhandle Conference Championship in 2013-14. "We take pride in trying to recruit not only a quality player but also a quality person. This is a very special community and it's important to involve our guys in as many community service projects as possible. Community outreach has always been a staple of our program and we are looking forward to another exciting season. The influx of our new recruits and returners should make for a great season."
Coach Pena celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary on Aug.1st to the former Brenda Nye. The couples' daughter, Rebecca, is a senior at NYU this fall.
