PSC used the long ball to outslug NWF 5-3 on Tuesday night.
The Pirates would get the offense going right from the start as the first 3 hitters of the game would reach base before Wilfredo Alvarez brought them all in with his first home run of the year. NWF would add a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to cut into the Pirate lead 4-3. In the Bottom of the seventh, the Pirates would pick up a big insurance run on a solo homerun from Ryan Brewer. That would be more than enough for PSC's bullpen to close the door on Northwest Folrida.
Starter Evan Floyd kept Raider hitters off balance all night. The sophmore would throw 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs and 5 hits while stiking out 8 before giving way to the bullpen. JR Breeden would throw 1 scoreless inning in relief and Aaron Ginn would come in and get the save by striking out all 5 batters he faced.
The Pirates only collected 6 hits off Raider starter Grant Stewart. Alavarez and Brewer collected all 5 RBI's for Pensacola.
The Pirates are back in action at home Thursday v.s. NWF at 5:00.
