PSC Baseball Goes 1-2 on the Weekend

PSC Baseball opened their 2018 season by traveling down to St. Petersburg, FL over the weekend. The Pirates went 1-2 against teams from South Florida. 

In game 1, PSC squared off against a tough Miami Dade team and lost 13-1. The Sharks took the lead in the first inning and never looked back, adding runs in the second,fourth, fifth, and seventh.  The Pirates weren't able to get anything going offensively thanks some quality pitching from Miami Dade. Griffin Rivers led the way for the Pirates offensively going 2-4 with two doubles.Freshman, Chad Bryant got the start on the mound for PSC and went 3innings giving up 2 runs. 

Game 2 South Florida College 7- PSC 3. Game 2 was much the same for the Pirates as they struggled to get anything going offensively. South Florida jumped out to a 4-1 lead through 4 innings and would eventually tack on 3 more from a couple defensive misques from the Pirates.. The Pirates had opportunities to get back in the game but couldn't come up with the big hit. In the 9th, the Pirates would add their second run of the game thanks to a solo homerun from Freshman catcher Josh Rulli. Evan Floyd got the start for PSC going 4 innings giving up 4 hits, 3 runs, while striking out 5. Griffin Rivers was 2-4 and Rulli was 1-4 with a homerun for PSC.

Game 3 PSC 12- St. Pete 3. In Game 3 PSC's hitters came to life early and often knocking out 14 hits with six extra base hits. All nine starters for PSC had at least one hit. DJ Wilkenson got the start for the Pirates and was dominant on the mound. The freshman right-hander went 4 innings while only allowing 1 hit with 4 strikeouts. The Pirates put the game away early with 1 run in the first inning and five in the second. PSC was led offensively by Josh Rulli (3-4, double, 1R, 2RBI), Griffin Rivers (3-3, double, triple, 2R,3RBI) and Luis Colon (2-4, double, 3R,2RBI). DJ Wilkinson (4inn, 1H, 0ER,4K), Louis Davenport (2inn, 1H, 1ER,3K) and Aaron Ginn (1inn,1H,0ER,2K) were dominant on the mound for PSC.

PSC will open up at home this Saturday vs. Central Alabama at 1:00.
