 Shallow and Deep   Get up on Saturday mornings and workout in the pool.  Work at your own pace and feel good.  This could be a good opportunity to cross train or add to your exercise program.   Spring  classes start Jan. 15, 2011.

How to Register for Aquatics Classes

Aquatic program students may register for classes using the following methods.  These classes are non-credit, recreation and leisure courses and are offered through PJCs Continuing Education Department.

 ON THE INTERNET – Web registration is available to everyone.  Go to www.pjc.edu and select Spyglass.  Follow the instructions on the PJC website.

Aquatics

Pensacola Junior College’s Aquatics Program is designed to increase strength, flexibility, build endurance, increase circulation, strengthen the heart, improve muscular balance, tone and shape muscles, rehabilitiate muscle movement, provide stress relief, and much more!  It revives your energy, is a great deal of fun, and provides social interaction with others–people just like you!

Lady Pirates sign to play at D-1 schools

All three Lady Pirates sophomores received basketball scholarships to universities of their choice. Deana Allen signed with the University of Florida, DeAngela Sword signed with Troy University and Izzy Chilcott will play ball at the University of San Diego.

“I am excited to have this opportunity, but I’m sad in a way because I enjoyed my years here in Pensacola,” Allen said.

Coach – La Rita Carter

La Rita Carter is a native of Pensacola, Florida, where she has served as the Pensacola State College Cheer Coach for the past six years and as the Dance Director for the past 10 years.  In 2004, La Rita developed the Pensacola State Dance Team to give dancers attending Pensacola State an opportunity to continue to train and perform at the College level.

Intramurals

Intramurals are organized sports leagues and tournaments open to all Pensacola State College enrolled students, faculty and staff. Men’s, women’s and coed events are offered during all terms and take place on all three campuses. Some events may take place off campus. Intramurals are usually scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and end by 5 p.m.

Cheer Program

The primary mission of the Cheer Squad is to support the athletic teams, assist in motivating the crowd, entertain the audience at games and at other school functions, as well as promote overall school spirit.

Pete Pena PJC’s choice for men’s basketball coach

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola Junior College selects one of its own, Pete Pena, to head the men’s basketball program. He replaces head coach Paul Swanson, who stepped down March 11.

“We are glad to announce the hiring of Pete Pena as the new men’s basketball coach,” said PJC Athletic Director Bill Hamilton.
